The installer starts no network service by itself: not

not the time daemon.
Each is started by hand.
The services are installed, only not enabled, so
.Ic sv up Ar name
works too.

The install needs a working connection to rsync.rawnix.org.
.Ss Finding the interface

lists the network interfaces.
Wired ones are typically called

.Li enp Ns Ar ... ,
wireless ones

.Li wlp Ns Ar ... .

gets an address, a route and name servers, and writes them to
.Pa /etc/resolv.conf .
Without an interface name it configures every interface it finds.

Write the network's name and passphrase to a configuration file, start
.Xr wpa_supplicant 8
on it, then get an address:

The installer carries firmware only for a few USB wireless adapters
(Ralink rt73 and rt2870, Realtek rtl8192c, rtl8192cu and rtl8192du).
Other adapters that need firmware do not come up.
