Each is started by hand. The services are installed, only not enabled, so .Ic sv up Ar name works too. .Pp The install needs a working connection to rsync.rawnix.org. .Ss Finding the interface .Dl # ip link lists the network interfaces. Wired ones are typically called .Li eth0 or .Li enp Ns Ar ... , wireless ones .Li wlan0 or .Li wlp Ns Ar ... . .Ss Wired .Dl # dhcpcd eth0 .Pp .Xr dhcpcd 8 gets an address, a route and name servers, and writes them to .Pa /etc/resolv.conf . Without an interface name it configures every interface it finds. .Ss Wireless Write the network's name and passphrase to a configuration file, start .Xr wpa_supplicant 8 on it, then get an address: .Bd -literal -offset indent # wpa_passphrase "SSID" "passphrase" > /tmp/wpa.conf # wpa_supplicant -B -i wlan0 -c /tmp/wpa.conf # dhcpcd wlan0 .Ed .Pp The installer carries firmware only for a few USB wireless adapters (Ralink rt73 and rt2870, Realtek rtl8192c, rtl8192cu and rtl8192du). Other adapters that need firmware do not come up. .Ss Static address .Bd -literal -offset indent # ip link set eth0 up # ip addr add 192.0.2.10/24 dev eth0 # ip route add default via 192.0.2.1 .Ed .Pp .Pa /etc/resolv.conf already names two public name servers, 1.1.1.1 and 9.9.9.9; edit it if they are not reachable from this network. .Ss Checking .Bd -literal -offset indent # ip addr # ping -c 3 rawnix.org .Ed .Sh FILES .Bl -tag -width Ds .It Pa /etc/resolv.conf Name servers. .It Pa /tmp/wpa.conf The wireless configuration from the example; it is lost at reboot. .El .Sh SEE ALSO .Xr installation 7 , .Xr dhcpcd 8 , .Xr ip 8 , .Xr wpa_passphrase 8 , .Xr wpa_supplicant 8
