.Dt SETUP-BOOT 8
.Os
.Sh NAME
.Nm setup-boot
.Nd write the kernel command line for an installed system
.Sh SYNOPSIS
.Nm
.Ar mountpoint
.Sh DESCRIPTION
.Nm
writes
.Pa /etc/limine-sync.conf
in the system mounted at
.Ar mountpoint ,
with the kernel command line that
.Ic limine-sync
puts in the boot menu.
Run it after
.Xr setup-filesystem 8
and before the kernel is installed; see
.Xr bootloader 7 .
.Pp
Everything is taken from what is mounted under
.Ar mountpoint
now, so mount the target as it will be at run time first.
.Bl -bullet
.It
A plain root file system is named by its UUID:
.Dl root=UUID=<uuid> ro quiet
.It
An encrypted root, a
.Pa /dev/mapper/ Ns Ar name
device, is traced back to its LUKS partition:
.Dl cryptroot=UUID=<luks uuid> root=/dev/mapper/<name> ro quiet
The initramfs opens it under the same
.Ar name ,
so that name must not change.
.El
.Pp
.Nm
also warns if the EFI system partition is not mounted at
.Pa boot/efi
or is not of the EFI System partition type, and if there are encrypted
volumes besides root but no
.Pa /etc/crypttab .
It does not write
.Pa /etc/crypttab ;
that is done by
.Xr genluks 8 .
.Sh FILES
.Bl -tag -width Ds
.It Pa /etc/limine-sync.conf
The command line and the other settings of
.Ic limine-sync ,
described in the file itself.
.El

.Dl # setup-boot /mnt
